What is it like to live in Camberley?

Is Camberley a good place to live? It’s a question we are asked on a daily basis by prospective home movers who are contemplating moving to the area, predominantly people moving from London along the M3 corridor and wondering where they want to be, and considering Camberley for the superb transport links it has to offer!  I grew up and attended school in Camberley.  Now, as a resident with 2 children attending local schools and having worked exclusively in the Camberley area for over 20 years, I think I am well placed to answer this and give some guidance to potential local homeowners!

There are many reasons why people move to Camberley but, in my experience, most people are interested in the local schools, and Camberley is truly blessed with some wonderful schools throughout the town so, no matter what part of Camberley you are moving to, your children will be well catered for from Infant school right through to Secondary and College.  As local residents my team and I are well versed in local sentiment towards each school and are on hand to point you in the direction of the closest schools to any of our available properties, or even suggest roads and areas you may want to consider.

Secondly, the past few years has seen hugely increased demand for properties that are close to green spaces and leisure facilities.  Camberley is surrounded by some fantastic, publicly available heathland including Barossa Common, Swinley Forest and High Curley. These areas offer superb walking and running opportunities, for humans as well as dogs!  There are also plenty of mountain bike trails through all these areas.  In addition to the heathland Camberley has some fantastic parks in and around the town centre and in the residential areas on the periphery of the town.  Again, my team and I will be able to point you in the right direction.  The recently built £22m Leisure Centre in Grand Avenue offers brilliant facilities including multiple swimming pools, clip and climb, soft play, gym and sports hall.

The town centre is home to the Camberley Theatre, which attracts award winning comedy, plays and musicals to the town.  There is also a large array of shops from high street essentials to more boutique options, plus a superb variety of restaurants, bars and pubs to cater for pretty much any taste and with Surrey Heath Borough Council’s plans to further enhance the town centre over the coming years this will lead to Camberley becoming even more vibrant and desirable.

Lastly, throughout Camberley there is a real variety of fantastic properties to live in!  Whether it be a one-bedroom starter home, town centre apartment, first family home or an imposing detached residence Camberley really has it all from Victorian properties to cutting edge modern.  It really is a wonderful place to live, so please get in touch with my team and I – the real local experts!
