FARNBOROUGH

Farnborough is situated in northeast Hampshire near the boundary with Surrey. The River Blackwater forms part of the boundary. It is located 34 miles southwest of London directly to the south of junction 4 of the M3 motorway. It’s shopping centre, cinema and some great local schooling as well as the Sixth Form College, Farnborough, which draws in around 3,000 students aged 16–19 from the surrounding area and Farnborough College of Technology, a further-education institution specialising in BTEC, A-level and vocational courses for students aged 16+, make Farnborough a great place to set up home.

the History of Farnborough

Farnborough was originally a small town in England, south west of London with some fine mid-19th Century buildings. The town is the home of St. Michael’s Abbey. The Imperial Crypt there is the resting place of Napoleon III (1808–1873), Emperor of France, his wife, Eugénie de Montijo, (1826–1920)] and their son, Napoléon, Prince Imperial. The Abbey was the home of the Catholic National Library from 2007 until it was relocated to Durham University Library in 2015.

THINGS TO DO IN FARNBOROUGH

The recent Town Centre rejuvenation has make the shopping area and somewhere to have a bite to eat more appealing. On the other hand North Camp hosts older shops and a Village feel about it. Farnborough hosts a weekly market in the town square and every Sunday there is a popular car boot sale in Pinehurst Car Park. Farnborough also has a variety of restaurants and pubs catering for different tastes such as Indian, Chinese and Spanish as well as traditional pub favourites.

FARNBOROUGH TRANSPORT

Offering good commuting and transport links by a main line station, where you can get an express train to Waterloo in 34 minutes. Coupled with the addition of Farnborough North and North Camp Station leading you Reading or Gatwick bound. A331 and M3 access via 4/4a ensures further towns are easily accessible.

FARNBOROUGH EDUCATION

As you would expect, Farnborough has a fantastic selection of schools including Cove Infant and Junior, St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School, Cove Secondary School, Farnborough Hill Private School and the sought after Farnborough College.
